Buying Guide

Resolution

1080p (Full HD): Easiest to drive. Good for competitive FPS. Cheaper. Best for budget builds.

1440p (QHD): Sweet spot for gaming. Sharper than 1080p, still runs well on mid-range GPUs. Recommended for 27" screens.

4K (UHD): Extremely demanding. Needs high-end GPU. Better for single-player games than competitive gaming.

Refresh Rate

60Hz: Standard. Fine for casual gaming and consoles.

144Hz: Massive improvement for competitive games. Smoother motion, lower input lag.

240Hz+: Diminishing returns. Only noticeable if you already have 144Hz experience and play at very high FPS.

Panel Types

IPS: Best colors and viewing angles. Slightly slower response times. Good all-rounder.

TN: Fastest response times. Worse colors and angles. Preferred by pro FPS players.

VA: Best contrast. Slower response than IPS/TN. Good for dark games and movies.

Response Time

Measured in milliseconds (ms). Lower is better for reducing motion blur. Look for 1-5ms. Anything over 5ms will have noticeable ghosting in fast games.

Adaptive Sync

G-Sync (NVIDIA): Eliminates screen tearing. Works with NVIDIA GPUs.

FreeSync (AMD): Same as G-Sync but for AMD GPUs. Most G-Sync Compatible monitors work with both.

Our Testing Process

We test monitors in CS2, Valorant, Forza, and Cyberpunk 2077. We measure input lag with high-speed cameras, test for backlight bleed, check color accuracy with calibration tools, and game on each monitor for 20+ hours to assess real-world performance.
